Plans Submitted to Bring Padel Courts to Haverhill

We’re excited to share some big news – plans have now been submitted to bring two Padel courts to The New Croft in Haverhill. Working alongside local businessman Callum Slater, we’re aiming to give our community an exciting new sport to enjoy and even more reasons to get active together.

Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, combining elements of tennis and squash. Played on a smaller, enclosed court, it’s simple to learn, accessible to all ages and abilities, and loved for its friendly, sociable nature. Whether you’re new to racket sports or an experienced player, Padel offers a welcoming way to stay fit and have fun.

We value keeping our community informed and involved. Our regular hirers were notified about the plans in advance, and a consultation event was held in April, providing an opportunity for feedback and discussion.

Importantly, the area identified for the construction of the Padel courts will not affect any current user groups that have agreements in place at The New Croft.

Access to The New Croft will remain straightforward as the project moves forward. Alongside our main car park, our partnership with Samuel Ward Academy provides 75 extra parking spaces with accessible pathways, available during evenings and weekends.

If the application is approved by West Suffolk Council in October, construction is scheduled to begin in November. We will work hard to minimise any disruption and keep the community updated on progress.

This development will enhance Haverhill’s sporting facilities, support active lifestyles, and further establish The New Croft as a leading venue for sport in the area. The addition of Padel will broaden the range of activities available and provide the local community with increased opportunities to participate in sport.

Peter Betts, CEO of The New Croft said: “This development will enhance Haverhill’s sporting facilities, support active lifestyles, and further establish The New Croft as a leading venue for sport in the area. The addition of Padel will broaden the range of activities available and provide residents with increased opportunities to participate in sport.”
