The New Croft is excited to announce the launch of two brand-new darts teams, set to compete in the Haverhill Charity League on Monday nights from the end of April.

The idea to form the teams originated when The New Croft spotted a post about the charity league on Facebook. After advertising for players, a group came together for practice sessions to get to know each other. The players then voted for two team captains, Leon Thomas and Edward Pickford, before drawing names out of a hat to fairly divide the teams.

As a proud sponsor of England Youth Dart Player Ruby Grey, we are passionate about supporting the sport at all levels. Ruby’s success has certainly inspired the younger players in our teams, reinforcing our commitment to developing local talent. This new venture will give players aged 14 and above the opportunity to take part in a competitive yet welcoming environment, no matter their level of experience. While there are one or two experienced league players, the majority of the team members typically play at home and are new to competitive darts.

Edward Pickford, who is organising the teams, shared his excitement about the launch: “It’s fantastic to see darts making a return to The New Croft. This is more than just a team, it’s about building a community where players can develop their skills, enjoy friendly competition, and be part of something special. We’re looking forward to an exciting future and hope to establish a lasting tradition for local darts enthusiasts.”

After initially looking for additional players, Edward has confirmed that the final 1-2 spots have now been filled. However, those interested in future opportunities are encouraged to keep in touch.
