The New Croft is excited to announce a partnership with local businessman Callum Slater to bring Padel, the fastest-growing racket sport, to Haverhill. This collaboration aims to introduce two Padel courts at The New Croft, offering the local community a new and exciting sporting opportunity.
Padel is a fun, fast-paced game that combines elements of tennis and squash. Played on a smaller, enclosed court, Padel is typically played in doubles format. The sport is known for its accessibility, making it a fantastic option for players of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, Padel offers a welcoming environment to enjoy fitness, fun, and friendly competition.
Peter Betts, CEO of The New Croft, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We are extremely excited by the proposals to bring Padel Courts to Haverhill. When we met Callum Slater initially, his thoughts, ideas, and plans to bring one of the fastest-growing sports to Haverhill really excited us. Since then, we have had regular dialogue, and the project is now coming to life. This project aligns with our values, and we cannot wait to host another sport that is accessible for all, no matter your age or ability. The past few years have been challenging for our local community, and it’s exciting to see developments taking place that will improve and create opportunities for people in Haverhill.”

“We are eager to hear from the local community and involve everyone in shaping the future of this exciting project,” Peter Betts continued. “It’s important to us that this facility meets the needs of the people of Haverhill, and we encourage everyone to come along and have their say.”
The New Croft is committed to providing spaces for all to enjoy, and the addition of Padel courts aligns with this mission. Not only will it offer a new sport to engage with, but it will also encourage a healthier, more active lifestyle within the local area. With the growing popularity of Padel across the UK, this development places Haverhill at the forefront of a nationwide sporting trend.
In order to engage with the local community, The New Croft will host a Padel Court Consultation Event on Tuesday, 1st April. This event is open to the public, and attendees will have the chance to meet Callum Slater and The New Croft staff. The event will take place between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, where the team will provide more information about the proposal and gather feedback from local residents before a planning application is submitted.
Callum Slater, Owner of Tribe Training said: “Haverhill has a fantastic sporting community, and I’m passionate about adding something new and exciting to it. Padel is such a social and accessible sport, and I know it will bring people together—families, friends, and players of all ages. This project isn’t just about building courts; it’s about creating opportunities for people to connect, have fun, and stay active.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to bring Padel to Haverhill. This sport is growing at an incredible pace, and I truly believe it will be a game-changer for the local community. Padel is fun, inclusive, and a brilliant way to get people active. Whether you’ve played before or you’re completely new to it, this is a sport for everyone, and I can’t wait to see the courts full of people enjoying it”
